Zahri holds a PhD in Information Security from the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Malaysia. Zahri also holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey, USA. Zahri was appointed as Adjunct Professor of UTeM (2016 - 2018) and Adjunct Professor of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (2020 - 2021). In recognition of his expertise in cybersecurity, Zahri has been appointed as Board Members and Industry Advisers to several organisations/research institutions in Malaysia and abroad.
Zahri expertise and experience has been critical in establishing and sustaining the nation’s prominence in cyber security, particularly in the Asia Pacific region and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries. Indeed, Zahri was a central figure in the establishment of the OIC Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT), a collaborative effort of CERTs amongst the OIC countries. Zahri was actively involved in the establishment of NISER (National ICT Security and Emergency Response Centre)’s Panel of Experts (POE) and implementation of the National Cyber Security Policy, which boosted Malaysia’s international image in cyber security.
